Lewisham Council – Engaging with Local Climate Activists

Since the declaration of a climate emergency, Lewisham Council’s senior councillors have brought together the council’s lead officers and activists from Climate Action Lewisham for regular bi-monthly meetings. These meetings allow the officers to share progress on their work, as well as get feedback and suggestions from local activists.

By working closely with local activists we ensure that the community can help shape our programme, as well as sharing their experiences and expertise. These meetings also include the Cabinet Member for Environment and the Mayor when required. This has ensured the council have a positive working relationship with local activists who feel they can enact local change positively.
