Stevenage Borough Council – Working Together

Since Stevenage Borough Council declared a climate change emergency in June 2019, the Council has been working cooperatively with local businesses and residents to see how we together can meet our joint obligations to be net carbon zero by 2030.

Our approach will be based on genuine collaboration, putting in place a Citizen’s panel to hear the views from a wide range of residents, shape our strategy and hold public and private organisations to account.  Being a Cooperative Council, we engage widely to work together to find the best solutions to problems.

Our Portfolio Holder for Environment and Regeneration has started a programme of engagement with local schools and young people to seek their ideas and contribution to the challenges we face, and we are committed to working with the Youth Council and School’s Parliament so that the leadership and passion shown by so many young people will be at the heart of our plans.
