Bridgend Council – Active Travel

Bridgend Council are using grant money from the Welsh Government to fund the construction of new safe routes for pedestrians and cyclists, new active travel routes, accessibility improvements to public transport and road safety and cycling training for schoolchildren.

The grant, worth over £3.6m, will include studies into traffic flows which could result in the closures of level crossings, increasing on the main south Wales railway line. The active travel improvements will focus on new shared cycle and pedestrian routes, particularly on routes to town centres, technology parks and retail parks, in order to encourage people to switch to more environmentally friendly ways of travelling round the borough.
