Manchester City Council - NOMA
Manchester’s £800 million regeneration scheme, NOMA, has been gaining traction for its sustainable approach to regenerating the city centre as an attractive place of global innovation.
The plan’s first development, One Angel Square, has received an eco-rating of over 95% by BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) due to the considerations taken during construction and the technologies incorporated in its design.
During construction, the negative impacts were limited through prefabrication, waste reduction and carbon reduction initiatives.
The One Angel Square development places sustainability at its heart, combining pioneering design with innovative technologies.
It is hoped that these kinds of developments place pressure on other developers to more seriously consider the long-term viability of their projects and gradually incorporate sustainable practices as the norm.
