The Greening Fund was initiated by the Mayor of Lewisham to support the work of local community groups in protecting and enhancing the borough’s green spaces. A sum of over £360,000 of S106 was allocated for the Greening Fund.

The Council set conditions for application for part of the fund that eligible applicants must be:

· All projects must relate to parks and open spaces

The Greening Fund themes includes seats, benches and picnic benches, soft landscaping, drinking fountains, bird/bat boxes, play equipment and outdoor gyms.

Through this scheme, the council successfully delivered and installed new park users leisure facilities, resources and equipment at across 35 sites within the borough.
