Bristol City Council - One City Plan

   Councils

With 200 city partners and institutions, Mayor Marvin Rees has developed a One City Plan to deliver outcomes across six priority areas – including the environment – every year through to 2050. The Environment and Sustainability Board (ESB) includes representatives from the first council, university, and science centre in the country to declare a Climate Emergency, who all call Bristol home.

Alongside the ESB, an Advisory Committee on Climate Change has also been launched. Made up of independent academic experts, they will provide technical expertise on reducing emissions and delivering carbon neutrality and climate resilience by 2030 across all six One City Plan themes, including housing, economy, homes, skills, transport, and health. The committee will review all policies for climate impact. It is led by Dr Jo House from the University of Bristol’s Cabot Institute for the Environment and Professor James Longhurst at the University of the West of England. Bristol’s Green Capital Partnership, established during the city’s year with the status awarded by the European Commission, will provide support to the committee.
